Northstar Community Development Corporation
| NorthStar Community Development Corporation was conceived through a ministry in Northwest Detroit in 1986. Known at that time as REACH, the community leaders and volunteers who launched the organization sought to facilitate community-based change with economic empowerment as its cornerstone. In 1997, REACH became NorthStar. Fast forward to today, and NorthStar has burgeoned into an organization responsible for more than $40 million in housing development in Northwest Detroit. Through successful collaborations with public and private partners, NorthStar continues to have a tremendous impact on the community it serves. With existing occupied properties like Pilgrim Village Manor Apartments, Petoskey Place Apartments and Pilgrim Meadows Senior Apartments, NorthStar has laid the foundation for substantive change in the community. And, the work is just beginning. NorthStar currently has seven projects in the development pipeline, with more to come. The area of northwest Detroit that NorthStar serves is poised to regain its rich heritage-block by block and storefront by storefront-and NorthStar is playing a major role in its resurgence. Service Area NorthStar serves the following communities: Bagley, Harmony Village, Fitzgerald, Martin Park, and Pilgrim Village. NorthStar's service area includes Livernois Avenue, and is bounded by Eight Mile Road on the north, Davison Avenue on the south, Woodward/City of Highland Park border on the east, and Wyoming Avenue on the west.
